ABOUT TERRY AND TED

Like many successful relationships—and more than a few unsuccessful ones—Terry DiMonte and Ted Bird sowed the seeds of an enduring friendship over alcohol. They met in 1985 when they were sporting identical mullets and working at competing radio stations in Montreal. Terry treated Ted to a round during a chance encounter at Bar Scaramouche on Mountain Street, and they sealed the radio partnership deal three years later over scotch at the upper duplex Ted was renting in NDG.

The chemistry on and off the air was immediate and has never waned. Their easy, natural flow and complementary skill sets underpinned a 19-year run of highly-rated morning shows that began and ended on Montreal’s heritage classic rock station, CHOM, and included successful stints in Top 40 at MIX 96 and talk radio on CJAD. Terry and Ted conquered every format they took on, and along the way forged bonds in every relevant corner of the community. Through their unwavering commitment to numerous charities, visits to schools, countless appearances at private and public functions, live broadcasts from listeners’ homes and clients’ offices, involvement in Montreal’s world-renowned Just For Laughs comedy festival, and interviews with local, national, and international celebrities of all stripes, they stamped themselves on the Montreal landscape inside and outside the studio.
